Sanosuke brought Kenshin to some of his friends and they played dice but Sano lost every game. He asked his friends where Yoita, who used to be with them, was because he’s going to pay him with what he owed. His friends said that Yoita died from using opium. Someone sold him opium and said that it would be good for him but it killed him. Suddenly a beautiful woman came and saw Kenshin’s sword. She asked for his help and said that some Yakuza was after her. Two men came who called the woman Megumi Takani and said that they were the private guards of Mr. Takeda Kanryu. Kanryu was a rich businessman who became rich with dirty businesses. Suddenly another weird looking man, Beshimi came and threw darts at Sano’s friends. He was going to do the same thing on Megumi but Kenshin blocked it. Sano was so pissed off so he and Kenshin hit him and knocked him out. Kenshin and Sano went home with Megumi that made Kaoru mad. Megumi was flirting with Kenshin and that made Kaoru really mad. While they were talking, Kenshin saw a shadow watching over them.

Meanwhile, the two men who were chasing after Megumi were executed while Beshimi was given another chance. A man, who looked like their leader, told Hannya to bring Hyottoko (some more of his men) to help Beshimi find Megumi.

Megumi told Kenshin about Kanryu’s men including the leader whose name was Aoshi Shinomori who used to be an Onmitsu Ninja who lead the secret guard at Edo castle during the Edo dynasty and became the leader of Oniwa Banshu when he was 15 years old. These men are after her but she wouldn’t tell Kenshin why. Kenshin and Megumi were in a room at that time and Kaoru was getting really jealous.

Kenshin came out and told Sano about the men who were after Megumi. They all knew the Oniwa Banshu so they expect everything to be complicated but Kenshin told Kaoru that he would protect her. Yahiko was excited about being in a real battle with the “Kenshin Gumi”.

Suddenly a giant name Hyottoko came in through their wall. Sanosuke attacked him but his punches didn’t work. Hyottoko grabbed him and threw fire from his mouth at Sano but luckily, Sano was able to escape. Kenshin said that it wouldn’t work for him so Hyottoko tried it on Kenshin but Kenshin spin his sword to create a barrier. Megumi thought that Kenshin and Sanosuke wouldn’t win against Hyottoko so she tried to escape but Kaoru stopped her and said that Kenshin’s fighting for her so she shouldn’t abandon him. Hyottoko ran out of oil and Kenshin was going to strike but Sanosuke said that he would finish it. Hyottoko drank some more oil and threw fire on Sano but Sano attacked straight into Hyottoko’s mouth and pulled out a bag where Hyottoko kept his oil. Sano kicked him and knocked him down. Beshimi was watching them and decided to just kill Megumi but Yahiko used himself to block Beshimi’s dart. But the dart had poison in it so Yahiko fell down unconscious. Megumi said that she could take care of him. She made a list of medicine and gave it to Kaoru and Kaoru went out to get it. Sanosuke saw some powdered medicine fall from Megumi when she brought Yahiko inside the house and he tasted it. Those were opium and while Megumi was treating Yahiko, he was looking at her telling himself that Megumi knew something.
