Tsuiokuhen: Episode 4 - The Cross-Shaped Wound
Kenshin went to see Tomoe. While on his way, he was very confused and at the same time he was haunted by Kiyosato. Tomoe went to see the leader of the Shogunate group that was after Kenshin. Enishi was outside waiting for her. Tomoe went in and talked to that leader. She found out that she was used only to distract Kenshin’s focus and weaken him. Tomoe brought out his dagger and tried to kill the leader but he grabbed her and knocked her down.
Meanwhile, a ninja attacked Kenshin. He was injured but he was able to defeat the ninja. The ninja detonated a bomb to signal his leader that he was defeated. Two more ninjas went after Kenshin and injured him even more but again, Kenshin succeeded and defeated them. They used another bomb to signal their defeat. The leader heard the two explosions and he knew that he had to face Kenshin.
While waiting, the leader told Tomoe that she disgraced Kiyosato by falling in love to the assassin who killed him. Kenshin arrived and the leader went out to face him. Tomoe saw Kenshin and when she turned her back, she saw Kiyosato’s ghost. The leader wasn’t using any weapon but he was throwing Kenshin around. He took Tomoe’s dagger to finish him off. Kenshin went all out and attacked with his eyes closed.

He was struck he found out that he wounded Tomoe badly. He laid her down and before she died, she took her dagger and cut a wound on Kenshin’s face that intersected the one Kenshin got from Kiyosato making a cross-shaped wound. Tomoe died right in front of her brother Enishi.
Kenshin brought Tomoe’s dead body to their home in the mountains. Katsura visited them after finding out what happened. He also told Kenshin that the new revolution was about to start and his skills were needed. He said that they found the spy and it was Iizuka. He was executed by the new assassin while on his out of Kyoto.
Kenshin said that he would fight but after the war, he would have to withdraw his sword because he promised Tomoe that he would live an honorable life. Katsura left and after a while with Tomoe, Kenshin burned their house and left.
