Episode 7: Fight Under the Moonlight. To Save the One I Love!
Kaoru told Jin-e that he’s a coward for kidnapping her. Jin-e said that he just wanted to fight Kenshin as Battousai. According to him, he used to be with the Shinsen Gumi and killed people everyday just like Battousai but Kaoru told him that Kenshin didn’t kill just to amuse himself.
Kenshin sent a note to Sanosuke and Yahiko to tell them that he would be fighting Jin-e and save Kaoru. He told them to call the police if he didn’t come back. Sanosuke said that Kenshin might lose because he’s not a Hitokiri anymore and he would be facing a Hitokiri. Sanosuke and Yahiko decided to look for Kenshin and Kaoru and maybe help them fight.
Kenshin arrived at the time and place Jin-e set. Kaoru saw Kenshin and he looked different with the way he stared. Kenshin and Jin-e started the sword fight and Kenshin got stabbed at his shoulder. Jin-e said that he wasn’t fighting the Hitokiri Battousai so he decided to use Shin no Ippou on Kaoru. Kaoru couldn’t breathe and Jin-e said that she should suffocate after five minutes and there were only two things that could save her, if she could get out of the spell herself which was impossible, and the other is when Jin-e dies. Kenshin hit Jin-e in the nose with his sword and it was quick enough that Jin-e wasn’t able to see him move. It made Jin-e happy to see Hiten Mitsurugi being performed by Hitokiri Battousai. Kenshin said he’s going to kill Jin-e and Kaoru didn’t like it. Jin-e attacked Kenshin but after looking into his eyes he pulled back and said he had to fight seriously. He used the Shin no Ippou on himself by looking at his reflection on his sword. He called it Hyoki no Jutsu which he hasn’t use since he fought the Shinsen Gumi. He saw Kenshin do the Battou Jutsu form, which he said could kill someone lightning fast with one stroke. But he knew that after that one stroke, Kenshin would be defenseless so if he could dodge it he could win. He had confidence because he said that the Sakaba couldn’t be that fast. He attacked and was able to dodge Kenshin’s first stroke but there was a second one using the sheath of the sword crushing the muscle and bone in his arm. Kenshin raised his sword and was going to slay Jin-e when Kaoru shouted telling him to stop. Kaoru was able to snap out of the spell and she was fine. Jin-e stood up and took his sword but not to go on fighting but instead, he stabbed himself.
Just before he died, Jin-e said that Kenshin would always be a Hitokiri and nothing would change it. Kenshin and Kaoru heard Sanosuke and Yahiko.
Kenshin thanked Kaoru for not letting him turn back into Battousai. Kaoru asked for the blue ribbon but it was already stained with Kenshin’s blood.
