Kenshin destroyed the gate of Kanryu’s place and with Sano, Kaoru, and Yahiko, he attacked Kanryu’s guards. Inside, Kanryu was talking to Megumi asking her if she had decided to go back to him and make his opium but Megumi said that she would kill herself after she kills Kanryu. She raised a dagger but Hannya suddenly took the dagger away from her. Kanryu slapped Megumi down and said that she would be tortured. Suddenly, they heard the noise outside.

Kenshin and Sanosuke were fiercely attacking the guards. They went through swordsmen and no one was able to stop them. The encountered firing squad but Kenshin went through them and Sanosuke used Yahiko to knock down those men by throwing him to them. Kaoru knocked the officer down with her sword.

Kanryu saw them and wondered what was with Megumi that Battousai would go after her. Kenshin told him to give Megumi back and surrender himself. Kanryu didn’t listen to him and offered Kenshin to be one of his guards and that he would pay him fifty times a normal guard would be paid. Kenshin asked him to come down. He raised his price and made it a hundred times, then two but Kenshin didn’t want the money just like what Hannya told him. He gave up trying to bribe Kenshin and asked him to give him an hour and he would give Megumi to them. His plan was to force Megumi to make the drug but Kenshin stood up in front of a street lamp, showed off by slicing it down and said that he would come up to save Megumi and go after Kanryu. Kanryu told Hannya that the Oniwa Banshu must do their job to protect him. Hannya got mad and said that he’s not taking orders from anyone but Aoshi. Aoshi was there and said that he would kill Kenshin but only to prove that Oniwa Banshu is the strongest and not to protect Kanryu. He took Megumi to the third floor of the building and left Kanryu behind. Megumi woke up and Aoshi told him that her friends were trying to save her.

Kenshin and the others opened the door of the mansion and saw Hannya waiting for them. They realized that Hannya used metal in his gloves and that he was using Kenpo style of fighting. Some kind of smoke kept coming out of Hannya’s head. Hannya attacked with a straight punch and a back fist. Kenshin tried to dodge both of them but he said, Hannya extended his reach. Hannya said that he used a spell on Kenshin before they started their fight. While waiting in another room, Aoshi said that Hannya was using Shinwan no Jutsu and if Kenshin wouldn’t figure it out, he had no chance of winning.

Kenshin stood up with his sword pointing towards his opponent. Kaoru said that his stance was called the Shin Ken defense. Hannya said that Kenshin wouldn’t be able to attack with that kind of style. He attacked with a straight punch again but Kenshin dodged it and hit Hannya’s face with his sword. Keshin said Hannya used the stripes in his arm to make it look shorter so he used his sword to scale the length of Hannya’s arm. Hannya’s mask was broken. He said that he faced difficult situations before but what kept him fighting was his goal to protect the Oniwa Banshu’s pride. Kagi Zume (claws) came out of his fist and he attacked. Kenshin fought back and knocked down Hannya while breaking his claws.

Kenshin, Sano, Kaoru and Yahiko continued their way inside Kanryu’s house. More guards stood on their way but the guards were so scared to fight. Kaoru and Yahiko fought the guards while Kenshin and Sano went to see the boss, Aoshi Shinomori. Sano attacked Aoshi with two punches but Aoshi dodged and knocked him down with one hit using his elbow. He then drew his Kodachi (a shorter sword). Kaoru said that Aoshi’s sword could be used for better defense since he can block and attack faster.

Aoshi attacked and Kenshin blocked his sword. Aoshi kicked him and punched him a lot of times. and when Kenshin made his move, Aoshi just blocked all his attacks. Keshin said that Aoshi used his Kodachi for his defense while using Kenpo. Aoshi was the one who taught Hannya Kenpo. Kenshin felt the injuries he got and he was down.
